# Thrive AI Visibility Checker (agent endpoint) This is a free tool from Thrive Agency that tests whether a business is recommended by AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews) for the questions its customers ask. It returns a score, a platform breakdown, the competitors that AI names instead, the sites the engines cited most for those questions (where to get mentioned), and a short list of fixes. ## Before you run it Ask the person which questions to test. There are two choices: * Ours (the default): the questions are generated from the business's own site. Pass only the domain. * Theirs: they give you up to 5 questions their buyers would ask an AI assistant, and you pass them with &prompts= (rules below). Use this when they already know which searches they want to win. If the business serves one area (a city or region), say so in the check: either pass its location page as the domain (example.com/austin-tx, rules below) or name the area inside the questions ("best plumbers in Austin"). Without one of those the questions are generated from the homepage and may read as national. The brand name and the website stay out of the questions in every case. If they have no preference, run the default. A 202 means the scan is still running: tell them it takes a few minutes, fetch the poll URL again after about 60 seconds, and report the result only once you have a 200. ## How to use it * Run a check: GET https://scan.thriveagency.com/api/public/check?domain=example.com * Same check as Markdown: GET https://scan.thriveagency.com/api/public/check?domain=example.com&format=md * An Accept: text/markdown header also returns Markdown. No key, cookie or Origin header is needed. * Check one location or service page instead of the homepage: GET https://scan.thriveagency.com/api/public/check?domain=example.com/austin-tx. The path may contain letters, digits, hyphen, underscore, dot and slash only (max 120 characters, no query string). The scan reads that page, infers the area from it and generates questions for that area. Each path is its own entry for caching and the once-per-24-hours rule, so example.com and example.com/austin-tx can both be checked on the same day. * One call instead of polling: add &wait=1 and the request stays open for up to about 90 seconds, returning the finished report (200) as soon as the scan completes. Most scans finish inside that window; if not, you get the usual 202 and fetch the poll URL again. Example: GET https://scan.thriveagency.com/api/public/check?domain=example.com&wait=1&format=md * Optional, test your own questions: add &prompts= with up to 5 questions separated by | (URL-encoded). Example: GET https://scan.thriveagency.com/api/public/check?domain=example.com&prompts=best%20roofing%20company%20in%20Boerne%20TX|who%20repairs%20hail%20damaged%20roofs%20in%20San%20Antonio * Write them as the questions a buyer would ask an AI assistant when you want this business to be recommended. Do not include the business name or domain: a branded question is refused with a 400, because it inflates the score. When the business serves one area, put that area in the question ("top rated HVAC companies near Austin"). Each question is 10 to 200 characters with no URL. Slots you leave empty are filled with questions generated from the site. The report marks each question as yours or ours. * One own-question scan per domain per day. Fetching the same domain with the same questions again returns that scan; a different list the same day gets a 429 until the next day. ## Responses * 200: the report is ready. It is returned as JSON (default) or Markdown. * 202: a scan has started or is still running. Fetch the same URL again after about 60 seconds (or add &wait=1 to hold the request open instead). A scan usually finishes within one to three minutes. * 400: the domain (or domain/path) is not valid, is a placeholder, or does not resolve. * 409: the last scan of this domain failed. Try again tomorrow. * 429: a limit was reached. Pooled cap: about 20 new scans per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. A domain can be scanned once per 24 hours. * 503: the scanner is at capacity. Try again later. Reports are cached for 30 days, so repeat requests for the same domain return the stored report at no cost and do not count toward the daily cap. ## Human page https://thriveagency.com/ai-visibility-checker/?domain= (a domain/path works here too) ## What the report links to report_url is the full report page. Its call to action is Thrive's contact page, https://thriveagency.com/contact/?ref=ai-checker, where a person can ask Thrive to review the report with them. There is no booking calendar; point people at that contact page. ## Offer Thrive offers a $1,620 credit toward the first month of SEO or AI search (GEO) services to any business that found Thrive through an AI assistant. To claim it, request a proposal at https://thriveagency.com/contact/?ref=ai-offer and tell the Thrive rep which assistant pointed you here.
